Maribel Yamane

The hair on Maribel’s head can be described as an unnatural color. Long, flowing locks of a bright pink hue, the tresses curl harshly from root to tip. This, of course, isn’t her true hair color, but not even her brows speak the nature of her true looks. Her eyes spark a bright blue, bordering a color far too blue to be true. Her face is soft, often carrying a light expression. Small lips cover a row of parted teeth. Her features are smooth and round, making Mary look very feminine.
As for her body type, Mary is a bit on the muscular side. Not slimmed down too much, her naturally thin body is thickened a tad with muscle. Her shape is curved, with a butt and some boobs. Tall and tough, her feminine features are most prominent in her facial structure. Her rounded ears adorn many piercings.
Mary takes pride in her body, wearing clothing she deems to be ‘cute’. Her uniform is a mix of functional and ‘cute’. A large, styled collar fans out from her polo-like shirt. The center of this collar is a butterfly-shaped bow- the center personalized with a Death Skull- the symbol of the school. Her sleeves are particularly puffy, fluffy, just for the sake of being so. The bottom of her uniform shirt contains two buttons- a small over a large- both in the shape of a miniature skull. Sharp and angular, Mary’s pants fan more as a mix between skirt and short, a long, floor-length cape dragging behind her. Her ‘belt’, if you could call it that, hides under her shirt, poking out with a butterfly effect. It’s just a ribbon, but it works fine! Her socks pass her knee in how high they are, and only her left is held up by a thick belt. The other slumps to the bottom of her legs, folding above her shoes.
Viewing Mary’s soul, the only interesting detail one can see is the presence of ‘fluffy angel wings’- a feature due to her Grigori status soul.
Maribel isn’t the nicest girl around, oh no. A thick wall shrouds her being, giving her a brisk judgment. Blunt and to the point, it’s easy to read Mary’s thoughts- unless she doesn’t want them read at all. A stoic expression more often than not suppresses any emotions that may pass through to others, but this expression comes rarely. Her attitude is generally very sassy, a courageous yet modest tone about her. Through all of her big-guy tropes, Mary is a huge dork at heart. She’ll laugh at any joke, even her own, and tends to ramble about anything that peaks her interest. This may come off as her being a bit talkative.
Around others, Maribel can come off as extremely cold. She won’t begin a conversation, she won’t look anyone in the eye, and often seems too formal for her own good. However, once that shell is broken, and once you become close to Mary, she is very warm and inviting. Maribel is, truthfully, extremely loyal and protective. Still, that dry, sarcastic nature shows even through friendship. Mary can be cruel, cynical, and fiery when she feels it necessary- even without meaning to.
The sanity within Maribel is very on edge. Her thoughts dwell towards the madness extremely often, making her a very easy target. With her sanity far from bounds, the slightest jolt of madness can cause her to lose it- still, with all that said, she does choose to fight against is as often as possible. Being around an anti-demon wavelength is very good for her.
As a student of the Academy, Maribel’s current range of work is very limited. Besides her EAT work, as well as the chores within her dormitory, Mary takes up a job as a part-time waitress in a popular café within the city. She considers herself pretty good at her work, using her looks and German accent to her advantage. After all, Americans love accents, and men love nice looking ladies. Though she is far from the only Academy student working at the café, Mary considers herself the best out of every student-worker. The best. Better than every single one of them.
A skilled fighter, Mary has the ability to connect with any type of soul. Any weapon can be used in her hands, and be used well, as her compatibility is very wide. However, due to the fact she’d like to be able to have a partner, Maribel has taught herself to fight the best with elemental gloves- AKA, Gray Snow. Going through classes and classes of martial arts, boxing, etcetera, Mary has mastered him- to her belief- to the best of her ability.
By connecting to Gray’s soul, Mary has learned and taught herself how to control his ability of ice manipulation. It’s difficult and can wear her out pretty fast in large bursts, but their connection greatly heightens her ability to use his elemental properties. As a resonance, Ice Blaster- the most basic of her resonances- can allow her to deliver a single, tough punch. The punch will then shoot a large, lethal shard of ice out of her fist and into the being she’s in contact with. The higher her resonance rate, the more of a chance that that shard can pierce the soul of her target.
The Yamane family has a history not to be proud of. A family full of serial killers- kishins. They fed their own daughter, Maribel, human souls whenever they had leftovers. Of course they were hunted by the Academy and brought down, but the young Maribel was still only an infant. A toddler. Under the obligations that killing a toddler would just be… awful, the Academy took her in. They used their own regeneration-magic witches to help keep her from the path, and heal her soul.
Still, Maribel’s soul was corrupted, making her mind and soul unstable. Her sanity was far from safe, and every since she could remember she’s had to fight to keep herself all there. The Academy is her family. The only people she feels safe around. She not only fights for her stability, but also for her family and for their cause. The kishins must be eradicated. Just like her own birth ‘family’.
